Lex offers Private Pilot and Commercial Pilot Single-Engine Land as well as Instrument Rating Airplane practical tests in the Boston area.
Location
Lex is based at Mike Goulian Aviation in KPYM and KBED and can also travel locally to KOWD, KGHG and KTAN. He can travel to other Boston area airports for an additional fee (currently $200.00).

What tests do you offer?
Private Pilot and Commercial Pilot Single-Engine Land and Instrument Airplane.
What is your scheduling process?
Send an email directly to dpe@flywithlex.com. Lex will respond with a Google form for you to complete to qualify you for your practical test.
Once you are qualified for the test, Lex will work to schedule a test date that is convenient for you and your instructor.
What are your fees?
Private Pilot ASEL – $900
Instrument Rating - Airplane – $900
Commercial Pilot ASEL – $950
Checkride Retest – $500 for flight-only portion, $800 if ground and flight portion are both required
Test cancellation fee – $450 if the following items cause a test to be cancelled:
- Missing training documentation
- Training requirements not met
- Pre-existing airworthiness discrepancies with the aircraft to be used for the test
- Experience requirements not met
- Eligibility qualifications not met
If you are scheduling a test and have questions about what documentation is required to qualify for the practical test please reach out ahead of time. Lex is happy to help review information in advance to avoid cancelling a scheduled test when finding last minute discrepancies.

About Alexander D. “Lex” Crosett III
Lex is a Designated Pilot Examiner and Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot and teaches in Cirrus SR aircraft at Mike Goulian Aviation, a Cirrus Platinum Training Center in MA.
Lex has been flight instructing since the age of 18 and enjoys working with pilots at every learning stage. Lex is an FAA Gold Seal Flight Instructor and has been recognized by the National Association of Flight Instructors as a Master Flight and Master Ground Instructor. He holds Airline Transport Pilot and Flight Instructor certificates in both airplanes and helicopters. Lex is also type rated in the Cirrus SF50 Vision Jet.
In addition to flight instructing to pay for his college education, Lex flew for air ambulance, freight, and charter organizations, and for a commuter airline in New England. Lex is an FAA Safety Team volunteer representative and is active as an Angel Flight and Patient Airlift Services command pilot.
